A landslide occurred in Xuyong, Luzhou, leaving five people unaccounted for

At around 2 a.m. on July 9th, a sudden landslide occurred on Shazi Slope in the 7th community of Shizhuang Village, Zhengdong Town, burying a house and leaving five people unattended. All 24 people from 11 households around the landslide site have been evacuated to safe areas.


After the incident occurred, the city and county immediately established front and rear rescue and relief command centers, dispatched departments such as emergency management, natural resources planning, and health, and mobilized geological experts, fire rescue, comprehensive emergency rescue, and rescue forces from towns and villages to the scene to carry out rescue and relief operations.


At present, every effort is being made to search for and rescue the missing people.

At 22:56 on July 8th, the Meteorological Observatory of Xuyong County updated the orange rainstorm warning signal to a red one. Currently, the rainfall intensity in Pushi, east of Xuyong County, has reached 80 millimeters per hour. It is expected that the rainfall in the east and back mountains of Xuyong County will reach 100 millimeters in the next three hours.


The Meteorological Observatory of Xuyong County reminds: Relevant departments and towns should closely monitor weather changes, strengthen monitoring and early warning in high-risk areas, do a good job in emergency response and rescue work for heavy rain, pay attention to preventing secondary disasters such as landslides, mudslides and mountain floods, promptly evacuate and transfer people in geological disaster risk areas and residents of dilapidated houses. Those who have been transferred should be properly resettled and strictly prevented from returning privately to ensure safety.


Up to now, red rainstorm warning signals have been issued in Hejiang County, Xuyong County and Gulin County of Luzhou City.
